This year's 3-on-3 Late Night Basketball Showcase will be held Nov. 20 at the Elmen Center.

Augustana students and faculty can sign up teams and compete in a round-robin tournament, with the winning teams receiving prizes.

"Last year was a big success with this event," Intramural Coordinator Rachel Amble said, "and we can't wait to see what this year brings.  There will be prizes, free pizza, free drinks and other giveaways."

Last year's event featured over $1,000 in prizes and this year that amount will increase drastically.

Recreational Services staff traveled to different businesses around the community to acquire sponsorships and prizes.

Sponsors for this year include Scheels All Sports, Erberts and Gerberts, Coca-Cola, Sioux Falls Skyforce, Juice Stop, Ruby Tuesday, Famous Daves, CiCi's Pizzaand Suburban Lanes.

"We will again have great prizes for the winners," Amble said, "but everyone who comes will leave with at least a shirt.  It's a great time for everyone involved."

One perk is that the Skyforce will give away four executive level tickets to each of the first 25 teams that arrive; a total value of over $1,500.

This year, Amble expects more than 100 students to participate.

Each team is placed in a division, either men's competitive, intermediate, or recreational and women's competitive or recreational.

Pool play begins at 9 p.m., and after that a tournament bracket will be set up.

Each team makes the tournament, and from there, best of three series continue until two teams are left.

Another best of three series then determines each division's winning team, nearly five hours after the tournament begins.

"It's a lot of basketball," Amble said, "but at the end of the night everyone has had a good time."

Students looking for more information or to sign up a team can stop at the Elmen Center desk. Tuesday, Nov. 16 is the final day to register a team.
