As students begin to consider courses for fall 2011, the registrar announced a change in number of credit hours required to be a full-time student.
Beginning next fall, the minimum number of credit hours for a full-time student will increase from 10 to 12 hours, which is the national norm.
"I don't know that there are any schools out there that have full-time at 10," registrar Joni Krueger said. "And for many students, it's confusing to say you can take 10, but not if you're an athlete, or an international student, or have SDOS, or a number of other scholarships."
The change also helps students who take the minimum number of credits a semester reach graduation on time. At the previous 10 credits, it would take a student thirteen semesters to graduate.
Approaching registration, students returning to Augustana next fall should consider this change when planning their courses and financial aid.
"If students find themselves stuck, they can come ask," Krueger said. "Our goal is for this to be a non-issue."
