Dear Abbey,

Is there such a thing as having too slutty of a Halloween costume?

- Cleavage Cathy

To quote Tina Fey's Mean Girls, one of the most classic movies of all time, "Halloween is the one night

a year when girls can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it."

However, it is possible to be too slutty. A good rule of thumb to follow would be if a guy can see anything you'd be ashamed of it's probably a good idea to rethink said costume.

Also, check with your boyfriend: sometimes he might have a different idea of what slutty is. On the other hand, if you are single and free as a bird-show your lady lumps! Have fun with it and enjoy Halloween!

Dear Abbey,

How should I handle it if my boyfriend told me I look "heavier" in my Halloween costume?

-Possibly Single?

Dear Single, Two words: DUMP HIM.

Dear Abbey,

I'm just wondering: are there any major differences between a high school  dance and a college dance? Should I bring a date and what do people usually wear?

-Dancing Queen

Dear Dancing Queen, while I am sure you are "young and sweet," though probably not 17, you will enjoy college dances. And yes, it is very different from a high school dance.

That is, unless you went to your high school dances wearing as few items of clothing as possible, sweating as much as possible, and being pressed to dozens of strangers like sardines in a can.

I would mention the possibility of alcohol and people under the influence but, like I mentioned earlier, Augustana is a "dry campus." I would not suggest bringing a date as you are sure to be separated from them within seconds of entering the throng of dancing queens and kings.

Like I said earlier, it can get very hot during dances and I would suggest wearing light clothing, and probably not very much of it either.

Enjoy!
